Paul Tierney has been selected to referee West Ham United's Championship match away to Millwall this Saturday.
The official from Wigan, who has been part of the Select Group since 2016, will take charge of his 20th match involving West Ham. This will be his first time refereeing the club in the second tier, having previously overseen 19 of their games, with most of those in the Premier League.
Tierney has experience in major matches. He was the referee for the FA Cup final last year, the EFL Cup final a few years prior, and the Championship Play-Off final before that. He was also on the FIFA International List for a period.
He will be assisted at The Den by Richard West, who will be working his 32nd West Ham match. The other assistant will be Sam Lewis, for whom this is a fifth appointment involving the Hammers. Lewis Smith will be the fourth official; he was in charge for West Ham's recent home victory over Wolves.
The match is an important one for the league leaders, who are top of the Championship. They travel to south London aiming to respond to a home loss in their last match. West Ham have won four, drawn two, and lost one of their first seven games. Their next match after this is at home to Norwich City.
With Joël Veltman unavailable, manager Julen Lopetegui will consider his choices for the trip. The game sees the top-placed team face a Millwall side in 11th position. Kick-off at The Den is set for 3pm on Saturday.
