West Ham United's Jordan Hugill has joined Hartlepool United after being released by Rotherham United. The 34-year-old striker has signed a one-year contract with the option to extend. Hugill enjoyed success at Preston North End, scoring 30 goals in 114 appearances during a three-and-a-half year spell. He was signed by West Ham United in January 2018 for a reported £10m, but made only three Premier League appearances for the Hammers in two and a half years without scoring. Hugill later signed for Norwich City, and had loan spells at Middlesbrough, QPR, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City. He had earlier spent time on loan at then-League Two outfit Hartlepool in 2015, scoring four goals in eight appearances, including the winner against Exeter City which secured the club's place in the Football League on the final day of the season. Hugill will be reunited with former Rotherham boss Lee Clark, who managed Hugill at the end of last season, before being appointed Hartlepool manager on 14 May. Hugill is delighted to be coming back to Hartlepool United, saying: 'I'm absolutely delighted to be coming back to Hartlepool United. I have great memories of my previous spell at the club, and scoring the goal against Exeter that helped keep Pools in the Football League is something I'll always remember.'
